Amanzimtoti, or fondly called Toti by the locals, is situated along the coast of eThekwini-Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Well-known for its tropical climate and number of beaches, Amanzimtoti is popular as a tourist destination.
The name ‘Amanzimtoti’ refers to ‘sweet waters’ which is said to come from the famous Zulu King, Shaka upon tasting the water from the local river during one of his campaigns – he declared “Kanti Amanz’amtoti” which translates to “the water is sweet”. The town has a rich cultural history which is showcased in the number of arts and craft stores offering a range of local handmade products.
